Volunteer Coordinator

Location: New York, NY (remote until further notice)

Are you a bilingual professional (Portuguese & English) with deep interest in Brazil’s social issues and its development? We are looking for a volunteer that is flexible, detail-oriented and focused to be our Volunteer Coordinator, responsible for our database of volunteers and volunteer opportunities. The Volunteer Coordinator’s responsibilities include recruiting new volunteers, keeping a database of volunteer information, matching volunteers to opportunities that suit their skills – also providing them opportunity to develop other skills and understand a non-profit’s work, keeping volunteers informed, and conveying the organization’s purpose to the public. *Please not that all work is currently remote until further notice.

Volunteer Coordinator Responsibilities:

● Keeping the volunteer pool of candidates, collecting volunteer information, availability, and skills, and maintaining an up-to-date database.
● Managing onsite and remote volunteer life cycle – including Recruiting (posting, sourcing, screening), onboarding, engagement, retention and exit.
● Using volunteer job boards, outreach programs, e-mails, and volunteer databases.
● Keeping new and existing volunteers informed about the organization and volunteer opportunities.
● Matching volunteers to opportunities that suit their skill sets, ensuring they understand their responsibilities, and properly allocating new volunteers with respective areas.
● Keeping volunteers records, ensuring paperwork is properly filled out.
● Preparing codes of conduct and operating procedures to uphold the organization’s values, ensuring company policies, volunteering related laws and regulations implementation and fostering positive relations to solve any issues.
● Ensuring the organization’s purpose is conveyed to the public.
● Implement Volunteer’s Individual Development Plan to ensure that volunteers have the opportunity to develop and/or improve new skills during the volunteer program.
● Organizing volunteers logistics and managing volunteers during events.

Skills & Requirements:

● Bilingual English and Portuguese.
● Experience in volunteering and recruitment.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
● Excellent organization and team building skills.
● Knowledge of MS Office.
● Experience in non-profit and Blackbaud is a plus.
