Agroecologia e Cultura

The Chico Mendes Association of Extractive Reserve Residents and Workers was created to disseminate new opportunities to encourage local development and sustainable production. Through the Agro-ecology and Culture project, supported by BrazilFoundation, the association opened a cultural space in the city of Assis, to disseminate and encourage agricultural techniques and the mode of interacting with the environment that existed prior to the exploitation of rubber.

The project also implemented a demonstration site for farming techniques, where residents would have access to innovations in sustainable techniques such as green fertilization and waste recycling.
