Although the Brazil Foundation was officially created in the year 2000, our roots trace back to the early childhood of our Founder, Leona Forman.  Born in China to Russian-born immigrants around the start of World War II, Leona and her parents moved from China to Brazil when she was the age of thirteen. Over the next few years Leona fell more and more in love with Brazil adopting the people, places, and spirit as her own.
