Vivenda Leader Wins Social Entrepreneur Award

Fernando Assad was the winner of the “Promising Social Entrepreneur of the Future” Award, for his work with Programa Vivenda, a BrazilFoundation grantee in 2015. Vivenda performs low-cost, quality housing reforms for low-income families in São Paulo. More than 156 projects have been realized, benefiting 590 people.

“It’s a wonderful responsibility to receive this award. It gives us a reason to continue doing what we want, which is to provide solutions for the whole country and provide access to decent housing” – said Assad.

The 11th edition of the Social Entrepreneur Award received 140 entries. Besides Fernando, another social leader and partner of BrazilFoundation, Panmela Castro of Rede Nami, an orgnization that empowers women through art and Graffiti, were also finalists for the award.

For us it is with immense happiness that we accompany the recognition of these initiatives that are transforming the lives of many Brazilians. “Yesterday I was impressed at how many organizations there at the ceremony were linked somehow to BrazilFoundation. You really make a difference. This award is ours!” – said Fernando.
