CEPFS wins Ford Prize for Environmental Conservation

CEPFS, the Center for Popular Education and Social Training, won the Ford Prize for Environmental Conservation in 2011, in the Business in Conservation category, announced last December 5th in Sao Paulo. The Prize is currently in its 16th edition, and every year it selects successful innovative initiatives in the area of environmental preservation that can be replicated throughout Brazil.

CEPFS, supported by BrazilFoundation in 2006, 2008 and 2011, seeks to promote sustainable development in the Brazilian semiarid region through the production and diffusion of environmental and social technologies and the creation of social capital. The organization encourages community participation to empower local families, enabling them to change their own reality.
