The Project Selection 2012 process ended in April with the selection of 27 organizations that will be supported this year with the resources of the IX BrazilFoundation Annual Gala held in New York in 2011. The success of the first BrazilFoundation Gala Miami enabled the support of six organizations that work to generate opportunities and promote sustainable development in Brazil.
Forty-six organizations, among 515 proposals received from all over Brazil, were selected and visited by BrazilFoundation’s analysts, thanks to the support of TAM Airlines. In total the analysts visited 41 cities in 17 states.
For the first time Project Selection 2012 brought a new definition of specific thematic sub-areas and had the extension of financial support for a period of two years for projects on local development.
The 27 grantees are located in seventeen different Brazilian States and are distributed in the following thematic areas: seven in Education, three in Health, four in Human Rights, three in Culture, six in Participatory Development and 4 in Local Development.
