What is BrazilFoundation?
BrazilFoundation is a nonprofit organization established in 2000 with the goal of generating resources for social entrepreneurs who propose creative and innovative solutions to challenges faced by communities throughout Brazil.
What does BrazilFoundation do?
BrazilFoundation generates and invests resources in small and medium-sized Brazilian nonprofits through five different programs:
Annual Project Selection: BrazilFoundation supports social projects submitted via an annual open call for proposal by small and medium-sized nonprofit organizations throughout Brazil.
Donor-Advised Grants: BrazilFoundation offers a trusted way for individuals and corporations who wish to support organizations of their choice in Brazil. The Foundation channels funding - following diligent review - to Brazilian nonprofit organizations recommended by donors - individuals and corporations in the US and in Brazil.
Project Bank: BrazilFoundation helps donors decide which project to support based on organizations previously supported by the Foundation that have a demonstrated track record of success.
Partnerships: BrazilFoundation offers its expertise in the nonprofit sector to advise corporations and institutions seeking to strengthen the impact of the organizations they support.
The Carioca Fund: The Carioca Fund, a BrazilFoundation initiative, mobilizes resources to train youth between the ages of 14-24 in technical and vocational programs so they can be competitive in the expanding job market in Rio de Janeiro. Working with partner institutions, the Carioca Fund invests in local civil society organizations (CSOs) in Rio de Janeiro that help young people complete their secondary education while preparing them for jobs in the formal economy.

How can my organization get help from the BrazilFoundation?
Every year BrazilFoundation issues a Request for Proposals on its website, inviting Brazilian organizations to submit projects for grant support. The objective of the selection is to support projects in the areas of Education, Health, Human Rights, Participatory Development, and Culture, with the potential to transform social conditions in Brazil. In particular, the Foundation seeks projects that present creative and effective solutions to pressing problems, that can become a point of reference in their field, and that can influence public policy.
1) Organizations must submit their project proposals within the Request for Proposals submission period.
2) BrazilFoundation analysts review project proposals and select project finalists.
3) For those whose projects were selected, there is a Training Workshop during the Project Selection Event.
4) Grantee projects are monitored and evaluated throughout the one-year grant process.
