2001: What a year! For newly formed BrazilFoundation, 2001 was a test of our endurance and commitment to our goals.
A Brazilian Donor Community: We managed to form a network of 350 Friends of BrazilFoundation in New York.
Planting the First Seeds: BrazilFoundation will allocate US$30,000 to fund projects in the areas of Education, Health and Human Rights.
Events: We organized seven talks in the series, "Ideas that transform Brazil," in which well-known leaders from Brazil's third sector presented their projects to the Friends of BrazilFoundation. Speakers included: Cristóvam Buarque, Edemar Cid Ferreira, Henrique Meirelles, Helio Mattar, Rebecca Raposo, and Peggy Dulany.
Award for Leadership in Social Action: for Marcos Troyjo, a Brazilian diplomat and a founding friend of BrazilFoundation.
Introduction to the Business Community: On November 7, 2001, we launched BrazilFoundation with an official introduction to the New York business community.
Activities in Brazil: We inaugurated our representative office in Rio de Janeiro.
Gilberto Gil joins BrazilFoundation
Getting to Work: BrazilFoundation has a number of plans for 2002 and counts on your support to turn them into reality.
