BRAZILFOUNDATION'S IV ANNUAL GALA IN NEW YORK

"SUN" AND FUN
Cocktail party at Brazilian consul’s home energizes launch of Gala 2006 fundraising drive.

The spirit behind BrazilFoundation’s annual gala has been captured in a unique invitation design by Giovanni Bianco. The cover has only one word: “Sol” (Sun). The reason for Bianco’s choice of words was evident in the energy guests brought with them to a cocktail party on May 9 to launch the fundraising efforts for BrazilFoundation’s most important annual benefit.

Brazil’s new consul in New York, Ambassador Jose Alfredo Graça Lima, and his wife, Mariza received about 100 guests in their home. The gala, one of the best Brazilian parties of the year, will be held on September 14 at Cipriani on 42nd Street in Manhattan. BrazilFoundation is expecting 500 guests who will enjoy caipirinhas, a performance by Margareth Menezes, and other surprises. The main sponsors for the event are Atlas Advisors, Companhia Vale do Rio Doce, Pfizer Animal Health and TAM Airlines. Zézé Flowers will do the flower arrangements for the fourth year in a row.

Bianco, a Brazilian graphic designer whose clients include Madonna, Vogue, Max Mara, and Missoni, volunteered to design the invitation to support BrazilFoundation’s gala and set the tone for the event. “’SOL’ is the biggest source of energy, the biggest source of light of our planet”, said Bianco, explaining why he chose the word to represent BrazilFoundation.
