A SPECIAL EVENT
Extensive collaboration prepares the ground for annual benefit.

BrazilFoundation's Annual Gala on September 13, 2005, will be a great party, of course. But it is also a vibrant show of what the Brazilian community can accomplish by working together, as each person donates time and resources to make the celebration a success. The community's mobilization effort officially kicked off on May 3, 2005 with the now-traditional cocktail party hosted by Ambassador Júlio Cesar Gomes dos Santos, Brazilian consul-general in New York, and his wife, Flávia Lana (see pictures).

Many gifts from the foundation's supporters make the gala's future shine. Beatriz Milhazes whose work is in the NY Museum of Modern Art, is donating a silkscreen-print , "Serpentina" and Romero Britto, popular artist who lives and works in Miami, and this year is Co-Chair of the Gala, is giving a painting to be auctioned off at the event. Cachaça Pitú is providing the essential caipirinhas. Zézé Flowers is giving floral arrangements for the décor. São Paulo-based public relations firm, Andreoli, Manning Selvage & Lee, is volunteering its media services for the second time. Fashion designer Carlos Miele and top models Luciana Curtis and Carolina Bittencourt once again pledged to support the event.

Also forcefully behind the event are Pfizer, the underwriting sponsor, benefactors Alcoa and Companhia Vale do Rio Doce, patron Atlas Advisors, and supporters, Mission Capital Advisors, Safra Bank, Thompson & Knight LLP. Cipriani's on 42nd Street will again be the party's setting. So far, 19 of the 50 tables have been sold. To join the fun, get your friends together and purchase a table or individual tickets at www.brazilfoundation.org. Last year the Gala netted $200,000 from the gala, which was matched with a $50,000 donation from AVINA Foundation. This year, BrazilFoundation needs to raise at least $300,000 to support the exceptionally creative social projects it receives from across Brazil.
