Dear Friends
Next week, we will announce the fourth group of projects to receive support from the foundation the in 2005. At this time, I would like to share with you our happiness at seeing women, men, and children - black, native Brazilian, and white - really change their lives through the opportunities our support provides. The difference we make isn't only for them - it's for us as well. read more...

WINDOW SHOPPING
Take a look at the products produced and sold by the social projects in Brazil.

The concept of community-based micro-businesses has established itself throughout the world as one of the most efficient methods of sustainable economic growth. In Brazil, a large number of projects have produced successful business plans that incorporate high-quality products and services while respecting local traditions, making socially oriented investments, and creating jobs. In this "store window," we will show you some of the merchandise from the organizations BrazilFoundation supports. The sale of these products is contributing to the sustainable development of many communities all around Brazil. read more...

THE PROMISED LAND
The dream of living with dignity in the New Canaan settlement.

Life is getting better for Maria do Carmo Silva, better known as "Neném" (baby) in Tracunhaém, a city of 12,000 inhabitants in a zone with rich vegetation in the state of Pernambuco. A little more than one year ago Neném and her family walked out of a camp for landless rural workers and moved to the Assentamento Nova Canaã (New Canaan Settlement). It was like winning the lottery - big time. read more...

Today, 20 years after its inception, Instituto Reciclarte fills the lives of more than 100 youths from Grota and other neighborhoods with music. The organization's orchestra even tours Europe. read more...

A PROJECT TO CALL YOUR OWN
BrazilFoundation offers options for support.

Every year, many deserving, first-rate projects that BrazilFoundation has chosen as finalists do not get funded only as a result of limited resources. Now, the foundation has assembled a select number of these projects in a "Data Bank for Projects," a resource for interested sponsors who can choose a project that is particularly meaningful to them. read more...

Events
A SPECIAL EVENT - Extensive collaboration prepares the ground for annual benefit.
BrazilFoundation's Annual Gala on September 13, 2005, will be a great party, of course. But it is also a vibrant show of what the Brazilian community can accomplish by working together, as each person donates time and resources to make the celebration a success. The community's mobilization effort officially kicked off on May 3, 2005 with the now-traditional cocktail party hosted by Ambassador Júlio Cesar Gomes dos Santos, Brazilian consul-general in New York, and his wife, Flávia Lana. see pictures
